Explanation

I do not know why or how I chose this topic.  It just came to me one day.  In no sort of way am I interested in fashion, but the fact of how we decide what we want to wear each day amazes me.  It seems like such a small, quick daily task that should only take a few seconds.  But in reality the choice is more thought out and planned naturally by the time you have already gotten out of bed, or started to think about that day.

Generally the weather is the first thing that I think about when I decided what clothes to wear.  Next was my activities for the day.  I have learned that subconsciously I choose to wear different shoes depending strictly on my activities for the day.  The decision is almost automatic and I do not even think about it.
One of the biggest issues I have with this topic is that it seems very specific and not vague enough for creativity.  But I have found no real trouble so far.  I have very much enjoyed writing about it so far and learning about how I am pretty stubborn and specific about the certain clothes I wear on certain days (Ex. I'll only wear my duck boots with Nike crew socks and long Khakis or blue jeans; or the fact that I do not wear undershirts as of last year (I have yet to figure out why)).
What I have been hoping to get out of this since the beginning is what I have gotten out of it so far: a deeper understanding of myself.  The fact that every human is making this "small" decision everyday blows my mind, because the thought of such a universal action at a universal time strikes me a crazy.  The thoughts running through some peoples' head's (Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, etc.) are much much deeper than we assume.
I'm stoked to see where this topic continues to lead me, it has been interesting to analyze and think about this on a daily basis.

  2. I'm very surprised you chose this topic, but now that I am thinking about it, I chose my outfits a very particular way, mostly according to how I feel that morning.

  3. I enjoyed your first post about this topic. The clothing topic is very interesting Jake. Maybe you can tell me why I like to wear those pullovers that I wear almost every day.

  4. At first I thought it was pretty humorous that you chose this topic, but after reading it I see where you're coming from. But I completely see where you're coming from on deciding what to wear that day, just depending on the weather

  5. You would be feeling the real struggle if you were a girl. Freshmen year, I picked out what I was going to wear the night before. Now it is a chore, and I try to do this chore when I wake up. Also mood and clothing. My oversized sweatshirt occasionally doubles as a caution sign. Example a) today. If you're worried about this being too specific, you can view people at school, what they're wearing related to how they're acting. I thought this is interesting as I can relate.

  6. I never thought to much of how I dressed considering I really only have like 5 collared shirts and 3 pairs of khaki shorts. But you are right in how the weather is the first thought but I don't believe it effects me all that much. Maybe you can help me find out why I wear what I do!

  7. This is so true. I've never thought about it like you have. Maybe it's just because I dress like I'm homeless everyday. This topic was very interesting, especially for a boy, but it was also really fun to read. You made it interesting for boys and girls and you made it easy to read

  9. I think this small decision of picking out our clothes is affected by the way we want to present ourselves. Subconsciously, we are thinking about what other are thinking about us. Do we want to impress them, provoke them, scare them, flabbergast them, or blow their minds out with weirdness? Think about how people react when they see you wearing a specific article of clothing.

  10. I am fascinated with how your "small" fashion choices represent your stubbornness--a kind of stab a the world somehow, even if only you know its meaning. I also think it is fascinating and challenging that you have chosen a topic that you really haven't considered before, and that you are digging so deeply into it. What does the choice and approach to the blog say about your personality? Are you a risk taker? Do you like to break stereotypes? Do you like to surprise yourself or others?
